About the Show

Violeta, a Salvadorean immigrant single mother, and her pre-teen daughter live with Yoshimi, a Japanese immigrant single mother, and her five-year-old son in a California border town. When the girl’s school is raided, Violeta and her daughter are deported and sent to different places. Violeta struggles to survive and, with Yoshimi’s help, be reunited with her daughter. Bonded by the fact that they both come from foreign countries and both are without their partners, they are spurred on by human rights above all else.
