REP Xtra Events

Special Announcement: While the theatre is dark, The REP has moved some of our REP XTRA events online! To see our full and most up-to-date list of online offerings, including Talkin' Theatre Online Edition, visit https://sdrep.org/REPOnline.php!

Through our free REP Xtra Events, which include community-focused conversations, artist talk-backs, musical performances and more, San Diego REP strives to provide a rich, interactive and transformative way for audiences to experience theater. San Diego REP hopes that REP Xtra Events help build a deeper sense of community among our audiences, provoke thought and allow us to celebrate multiple voices of our region. A mix of recurring and specifically tailored one-time events, REP Xtras are programmed for every show on the REP season!

During the REP's performance season, check out each show’s webpage for the REP Xtra event schedule. Every REP production will always feature the following recurring events:

Talkin’ Theatre with ToddBefore the first Thursday preview performance of every production, join REP Artistic Director Todd Salovey for a pre-show conversation with playwrights, actors, and other theatre professionals that explores topics related to contemporary theatre.

Sam’s Salon
Before the first Thursday performance of every production, join REP Artistic Director Sam Woodhouse for a pre-show conversation with local experts on a provocative topic inspired by the play onstage.

Meet the Artists
Following the first Friday performance of every production, join REP Associate Producer and Casting Director Kim Heil as she chats with the actors and gets answers to your burning questions!

Stick around after the show for a free beer tasting courtesy of one of San Diego’s breweries and the opportunity to meet the show’s cast and crew!

Like a book club for the theatre, Stay and Play Club is a post-show discussion hosted by The REP's literary manager following the 3rd Sunday matinee of a show's run. A recommend reading list with books related to each show is also available upon request!

For a list of free Xtra Events scheduled to enhance your experience of the production you're planning to attend, visit the show detail page for that production and click on the REP Xtra tab.

In addition to these live events, The REP also produces "The Curious Report" for every season show, a document edited by Literary Manager, Danielle Ward, that takes you deeper into themes, history, context and more surrounding the play.
