Season 44 is chock full of live music from around the world. Get swept away in a mash-up of classical Indian music and contemporary hip-hop from India in the action-packed House of Joy. Relish in the genius of Hershey Felder, returning with A Paris Love Story, his new work featuring the music of Debussy.
Steeped in diversity, Season 44 will travel ambitiously through history. Three of our playwrights of color—Herbert Siguenza, Jeanne Sakata, and Madhuri Shekar — share stories of everyday heroes who are striving, reaching, even leaping towards freedom and justice. This is perhaps most emblematic of what makes a REP play unique. You will meet Hamida, a female bodyguard inside a Harem in India, 1666; whip-smart Eva from Sinaloa Mexico, 1992; and Gordon Hirabayashi from Seattle, whose story of resisting the Japanese Internment during WWII is chronicled in Hold These Truths. The prestigious and acclaimed winner of the Tony Award for Best Play crowns Season 44: The Humans, a heartbreaking family play, will be directed by Todd Salovey, the director of this season’s Aubergine.
