John Steinbeck once said:
“The theatre is the only institution in the world which has been dying for four thousand years and has never succumbed. It requires tough and devoted people to keep it alive.”
We may not be able to physically gather at the theatre right now, but the REP isn’t letting that stop us from our mission!
We invite you to join us – for online viewing, curious conversations, special virtual events and more. This page will serve as our central hub, where we provide the most up-to-date information on online content and events hosted by the REP. Together, let’s keep the power and community of theatre alive!
If you haven’t already, sign up to receive our weekly e-newsletter (or as our Artistic Director likes to call it, our e-magazine). Creative spotlights, notes from our Artistic Director Sam Woodhouse, updates, and things keeping our staff curious and entertained will be delivered to your inbox every Thursday! View past issues HERE and sign up for our email list HERE.
Black artists face unique challenges in their careers on a daily basis. Every other Thursday, join San Diego REP’s Development Coordinator and local radio personality Ahmed Dents as he has a conversation with influential Black artists about what they have faced and how the future must change. Each live event will feature prominent Black artists from San Diego and beyond discussing their careers in theatre and their experiences as Black Americans in the industry. The discussion will be followed by a brief question and answer session where you can ask the guests your questions directly! Tune in with us as we listen to these important perspectives on how the industry can do better and be better for Black artists and communities everywhere. RSVP to receive the Zoom link HERE.
Want to join a community of curious souls who love reading and love San Diego REP? We are launching an online book club in collaboration with three independent, local bookstores! Over the course of The REP's upcoming season, participants will read a book from REP Literary Manger Danielle Ward's Season 45 Book List and then have the opportunity to join an online discussion led by leaders at Warwick's Bookstore, The Library Shop and Book Catapult. Get more information and sign-up HERE.
Talkin’ Theatre with Todd is usually a pre-show conversation hosted by our Associate Artistic Director, Todd Salovey. Now, we are taking this REP XTRA online! Tune in to the REP’s Instagram LIVE every other Thursday at 5:30 pm Pacific, where one of our Artistic staff will be interviewing a special theatre guest each week. Find our Instagram page HERE and view the guest line-up HERE.
Join our new Facebook Group for online dialogue. This is a place we are carving out to share thoughts, resources, books, and more to feed our curious souls! We will post prompts around REP productions to allow for deeper discussions. In addition, this is where our Literary Manager, Danielle Ward, will post ideas for reading or viewing with accompanying questions, taking her REP XTRA ‘Stay and Play’ Club event to the digital space. Join HERE.
